The Security and Networking Assistant will be responsible for the assessments, security related guidance and enforce implementation of security policies, guidelines and procedures for the Staff in Response Program with the support of Security Officer.
Dimensions of the Role
This will involve, but is not limited to: promoting a culture of security; security incident reporting; security guard oversight and management; monitoring and analyzing the security situation in implementing (SoPs) procedures in Mafa field office.The scope of responsibility is for both GHIV Africa and all authorized visitors’ accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in conducting security risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies
Support the establishment and maintenance of a network of security contacts and informants
Provide security briefings and training to staff and beneficiaries as needed
Assist in monitoring and reporting on security incidents and trends at LGA level.
Perform other security-related tasks as assigned by the Security and Networking Officer.
Regular attendance at relevant security meetings and forums for the Mafa LGA.
Report on security incidents/threats to Security officer as the case may be on a regular basis (including analysis of trends) and focal persons at the deep field level
Attending security meeting at deep field levels at Mafa
Managing and maintaining effective use of security communication equipment in Mafa
Ensure compliance of all SoPs such as movement SoP, curfew SoP,
Providing weekly situation report for the security officer in Maiduguri
Providing monthly incident report to Maiduguri office
Managing security information and communication effectively.
Tactically resolving any conflict that could trigger into security incident
Providing pre-alert to Security Officer in Maiduguri on prospective security issues
Ensure general staff safety and security in Mafa
To carry out any other duties assigned to.
REQUIREMENTS
Diploma or Certificate in Security Management, Networking, or related field
1+ year of experience in security networking, preferably in humanitarian settings
Strong understanding of security principles and risk management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in challenging environments
Fluency in English and local languages (Hausa, Kanuri)
DESIRABLE
Experience working with WFP-funded projects
Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles
