Job Description:
The Maths Tutor is responsible for providing academic support to secondary school students, helping them enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their performance in the subject. The tutor will work with students individually or in small groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' needs and help them achieve academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction to students in secondary school mathematics (e.g., algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics).
- Help students prepare for external exams such as WAEC, NECO and IGCSE.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and academic levels.
- Create engaging lesson plans that address students’ weaknesses and reinforce their strengths.
- Develop resources and materials to aid understanding, such as practice problems, worksheets, and study guides.
- Assess students’ current level of mathematical understanding through tests or informal assessments.
- Track and report on student progress, adjusting strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Help students develop confidence in their abilities by providing encouragement and positive reinforcement.
- Teach study strategies and time management skills to improve overall academic performance.
- Communicate regularly with parents and teachers regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with classroom teachers to align tutoring sessions with school curriculum and upcoming tests or exams.
- Stay informed about changes to the secondary school curriculum and exam formats.
- Continuously improve teaching methods through professional development and staying updated on best practices in math education.

Education/Experience:
- B. Ed Maths or a related field.
- Prior experience in tutoring or teaching secondary school students in mathematics.
- A minimum of six to ten years of relevant teaching experience
