Role Description
- Sitel Engineer plan, and oversee the construction of new buildings and bridges, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures.
- This is a full-time on-site role for a Site Engineer at Carrillion Construction in Lagos. The Site Engineer will be responsible for performing calculations, structural analysis, and utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to design and engineer various projects in the construction industry.
Objectives of this Role
- Interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
- Producing, editing, and revising plans, maps, charts, and drawings
- Planning and scheduling the work of other construction workers
- Coordinating the delivery of materials and equipment to the job site
- Installing and repairing different types of building components, such as foundations, framing, and finishes
- Communicating with clients and other stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences
- Supervising the work of subcontractors and other professionals
- Address problems that may occur
- Comply with safety regulations
- Follow up with local authorities or councils to ensure they issue building permits
- Organise contractors to work on the project, such as plumbers, electricians and carpenters
- Prepare project quotes and timelines for clients to review
- Supervise the entire construction crew, including hired contractors
- Apply technical knowledge to meet all stakeholder expectations
- Ensure that each completed project meets local codes, regulations, and quality standards
- Deliver structurally sound designs capable of withstanding routine use, the elements, and inspection
- Monitor project progress, ensuring it’s completed on time and within budget
- Set design protocols according to relevant codes and standards
- Advise civil engineers on best practices in building design and execution
- Analyze project goals and perform structural calculations
- Design structural elements of each project using computer software like AutoCAD, Revit, or RISA
- Make recommendations for materials to use and safety measures to take
- Oversee project management, like tracking budgets and maintaining a database of projects and their progress
- Review shop drawings and provide feedback to colleagues
- Perform field visits and write reports detailing project viability and progress
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Building technology, Civil Engineering or related field
- At least 5 years of construction experience with working knowledge of structural/site engineer or Builder
- Strong background in building technology
- Proficiency in Calculations and Structural Analysis
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong technical background in structural design
- Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies
- Highly collaborative spirit and experience working in a team
- Previous experience in high-rise project in construction company, or related field
- Experience in high-rise project and piping in a reputable construction company is a plus
- Proven experience as a general builder or similar role
- Broad knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on-site, working with various trades.
