Project Objectives


Overall objective



  • The objective of this engagement is to train 12 participants in standard water quality analysis and reporting using internationally recognized laboratory methods, standards and equipment. The training aims to enhance the participants' technical skills and knowledge in water quality monitoring, testing, and reporting to ensure compliance with international standards and improve public health outcomes.


Duration



  • The consultancy is expected to last for a period of 5 days, including preparation, delivery, and reporting.


Location



  • The training will be conducted at the consultant training facility, which is equipped with the necessary laboratory and classroom resources.


Scope of Work



  • The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:


Training Material Development



  • Develop comprehensive training materials, including manuals, presentations, and practical exercises, tailored to the needs of the participants.

  • Ensure that all materials are in line with international water quality standards and best practices.


Training Delivery



  • Deliver a 5-day intensive training program, combining theoretical lectures and practical laboratory sessions.

  • Topics to be covered include:

  • Introduction to Water Quality and Standards

  • Water Sampling Techniques

  • Physical, Chemical and Microbiological Analysis of Water samples

  • Use of Laboratory Equipment and Instruments

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Reporting and Documentation Standards

  • Facilitate hands-on training sessions to ensure participants gain practical experience in water quality testing in a standard laboratory provided by the consultant.

  • Issued a nationally or internationally recognized certification to each participant.


 Evaluation and Assessment



  • Develop and administer pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the participants' knowledge and skills improvement.

  • Provide continuous feedback and support to participants throughout the training program.


Reporting



  • Prepare a comprehensive training report, including an assessment of the participants' performance, training outcomes, and recommendations for further improvement.

  • Submit the final report to the IRC within one week of the training completion.


Deliverables



  • Training needs assessment report

  • Customized training materials (manuals, presentations, practical exercises)

  • Pre- and post-training assessment tools

  • Comprehensive training report

  • Issued a nationally or internationally recognized certification to each participant


Qualifications



  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Public Health, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in water quality analysis and laboratory management.

  • Proven experience in conducting similar training programs.

  • Strong knowledge of national and international water quality standards and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
