We are looking for a Porter to serve as the first point of contact to assist our guests.
Porter responsibilities include carrying guests’ luggage ETC.
To be successful in this role, you should be able to manage various tasks on a daily basis to ensure great customer service and that our operations run smoothly.
Keep in mind that our Porter position requires working in shifts, occasionally on weekends or evenings.
Ultimately, you’ll ensure our building is safe, clean and inviting.
Responsibilities
Carry and label guests’ luggage with tags
Ensure building entrance is free of clutter at all times
Direct guests to the reception area or the appropriate office/room
Arrange taxi services upon request
Report damages, call technicians and monitor repairs
Greeting guests and carrying luggage to and from their room
Showing guests to their room and explaining the facilities
Taking and delivering messages to guests
Looking after keys and left luggage
Answering guests’ questions about the hotel and local points of interest
Arranging transport and making restaurant and theatre bookings for guests
Covering the reception desk, dealing with enquiries by phone and face-to-face
Using the computer to check in guests arriving late, and check out those leaving early
Preparing and delivering late night snacks to guests’ rooms
Collecting and delivering the morning papers
If there is a fire or emergency making sure that guests are evacuated safely.
Follow evacuation rules in case of emergencies.
Requirements and Skills
Previous work experience as a Porter
Hands-on experience
Good physical condition, stamina and strength (e.g. to lift heavy equipment and luggage)
Familiarity with security regulations
Solid verbal communication skills to interact with cleaning staff, technicians and customers
Availability to work in shifts and flexible schedules.
