Job Summary:




  • The Fashion Instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and engaging lessons in fashion design, tailoring, and pattern drafting. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore their creativity while equipping them with the technical skills and business knowledge necessary for a successful career in the fashion industry. Additionally, the instructor will participate in non-teaching roles, contributing to fashion production by designing and sewing clothes as required.



Key Responsibilities:



Instructional Duties:




  • Design and deliver lessons on tailoring (male and female), fashion design, and pattern drafting.

  • Teach the business aspects of fashion, including entrepreneurship, marketing, and branding.

  • Provide practical, hands-on training in various techniques and tools of the trade.

  • Ensure students understand industry standards and best practices.



Curriculum Development:




  • Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessments in line with current fashion trends.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the curriculum aligns with industry requirements.



Non-Teaching Duties:




  • Participate in fashion production tasks, including designing and sewing clothes as needed.

  • Support institutional projects and events requiring fashion design expertise.

  • Collaborate with the team on creating and executing fashion collections or other production initiatives.



Student Engagement:




  • Mentor students, providing guidance and support for their creative and professional growth.

  • Evaluate student progress through practical projects, assignments, and exams, providing constructive feedback.



Classroom and Studio Management:




  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive learning environment in the classroom and studio.

  • Manage resources such as fabrics, tools, and equipment to ensure smooth operations.



Professional Development and Networking:




  • Stay updated on fashion trends, techniques, and innovations.

  • Build relationships with industry professionals, businesses, and organizations to create opportunities for students.



Team Collaboration:




  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support organizational goals and initiatives.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other institutional activities.



Qualifications:

Education:




  • Relevant tertiary degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.

  • Additional certifications in tailoring, fashion design, or pattern drafting are required.



Experience:




  • Proven experience in tailoring (male or female), fashion design, and pattern drafting.

  • Experience in teaching or training in a fashion-related field is highly desirable.



Skills:




  • Strong technical expertise in tailoring, fashion design, and pattern drafting.

  • In-depth understanding of the business side of fashion, including entrepreneurship and marketing.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
