Job Overview:
- The Dangote Cement Plc is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Social Performance to create, execute, and monitor a Social Management System aligned with DCP policies and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct robust social assessments concerning cement plant operations and community interactions.
- Formulate a Community Development Plan (CDP) focusing on cement-related impacts and opportunities for local communities.
- Establish budgets for community-related initiatives specific to the cement sector.
- Prepare and implement work plans that facilitate stakeholder engagement within the cement industry context.
- Oversee collaboration with NGOs, CBOs, and other local institutions to carry out community development activities effectively.
- Foster relationships with local stakeholders, authorities, and the broader community surrounding cement operations.
- Lead community engagement sessions such as town hall meetings, project launch meetings, and feedback sessions regarding cement operations.
- Implement and maintain a Grievance Management Process tailored for the Cement Industry, ensuring transparency and prompt resolution.
- Assist local institutions in advocating for community initiatives related to cement production.
- Enhance internal capabilities in Social Performance through training focused on the unique challenges of the cement sector.
- Build capacity among community institutions through specialized training sessions in cement-related community development.
- Ensure adherence to HSSE standards and practices relevant to cement manufacturing.
- Coordinate and compile reports on Social Performance initiatives specific to cement operations.
- Report on key Social KPIs related to cement industry impacts and community engagement on a monthly basis.
Requirements
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- A degree in Sociology, Community Development, Environmental Science, or related fields. Additional qualifications in cement technology or industrial relations may be beneficial.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in social performance or community relations, specifically within the cement or heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement and conflict resolution, particularly in relation to industrial operations.
- Strong understanding of gender issues and working with vulnerable populations in industrial contexts.
- Proficiency in local languages and fluency in English is required.
- Expertise in project management, planning, reporting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively is essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication skills, and the ability to deliver effective training programs.
- A proactive and positive attitude with a strong focus on community-centered development.
