Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is UNPAID. The minimum duration of this internship is ten (10) working weeks. Interns work five days per week (full-time - 40 hours). This internship is located at the office of the Country Representative of the UNODC Country Office in Nigeria (CONGA), Abuja. The office oversees CONGA programs & operations and manages the entire CONGA office as well as partnerships. Carrying out his/her tasks under the direct supervision of the CONGA Country Representative, the intern will perform the following functions:
- Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
- Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
- Document, legal and internet research
- Assistance during conferences
- Working on web-presentation
- Evaluation of projects
- Compiling statistics
- Media analysis
- Speech-writing
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
- To qualify for an internship with the UNODC CONGA Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). ;
- Have studied areas such as political science, public affairs, administration, programme management, or any related area;
- Computer literacy in standard software applications;
- Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. The training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
